Wellesley College is a private, highly selective women’s liberal arts college in Wellesley, Massachusetts, about 12 miles west of Boston. Founded in 1870, Wellesley is one of the original Seven Sisters colleges and is consistently ranked among the top liberal arts colleges in the country. Its location gives students easy access to Boston’s dense concentration of consulting firms, financial institutions, and Fortune 500 companies, and its influential alumnae network — the “Wellesley Hive” — is frequently cited as one of the strongest peer networks in higher education.
No business school — career support runs through Career Education
Wellesley doesn’t have a standalone business school; instead, the Lulu Chow Wang ’66 Center for Career Education organizes support around career communities, including a dedicated Business, Consulting, Finance & Marketing (BCFM) vertical with its own advisor. Students get individualized advising, an Economics Recruiting Newsletter maintained by the Econ Department, and access to an Economic Consulting-specific resource track — reflecting how much of Wellesley’s consulting pipeline runs through its strong Economics program rather than a business major, since Wellesley doesn’t offer one.
A dedicated student-run Consulting Club
Wellesley’s Consulting Club partners directly with Career Education to run case study workshops and consulting-specific programming multiple times each semester, giving students structured, peer-driven case prep outside the classroom.
Experiential, industry-specific programming
During winter session, students can take part in “Upskill,” an immersive one-week program offering hands-on, industry-specific experience — including an Investment Banking track run in partnership with Wall Street Prep. Wellesley also participates in Projects for Peace, a global program supporting student-led, community-focused initiatives.
Strong on-campus recruiting infrastructure
Wellesley’s Employer Engagement team builds customized recruiting plans for participating companies, spanning career fairs, information sessions, and on-campus interviews — giving consulting firms multiple structured touchpoints with students throughout the year.
