Why Richmond matters for consulting
Richmond is a small liberal arts university in Richmond, VA. Its Robins School of Business offers a Management Consulting concentration. Career Services runs a consulting community page and points students straight to Management Consulted. The class is small, so firms won’t fill a campus pipeline for you. You’ll need to drive your own networking.
Consulting placement
Primary field of employment: The university’s one-year-out survey of 2025 graduates (32% response rate) puts consulting at about 8% of respondents. Earlier classes ranged from 7% to 11%: 10% for 2021, 7% for 2022, and 11% for 2023.

Consulting clubs
Lakeside Consulting Group (LCG) is the main consulting club. Its stated goal is to make consulting accessible across campus and prepare students for consulting recruitment and internships. Members get regular meetings to prepare for interviews and gain experience through consulting engagements. Its official page lists 187 members and 27 events.
Delta Sigma Pi – Rho Omega, a professional business fraternity, is on Career Services’ list of consulting-related organizations. The other organizations listed are the Association of Consultants to Nonprofits, the American Association of Political Consultants, and the Robins School Student Government Association.
In class, the Management Consulting concentration includes MGMT 250 Introduction to Consulting and MGMT 450 Consulting Process and Practicum, both of which must be taken at Robins. MGMT 450 is aimed at top seniors and includes a team project for a local organization. It requires Business School senior standing.
Career Services support
Beth Chancy is the career advisor whose focus includes consulting. Book through Handshake, or drop in at Tyler Haynes Commons Suite 306 (weekdays, 2–4 p.m.) or Robins Suite 101 (Mondays and Thursdays, 2–4 p.m.).

- Case prep:Â A case interviewing handout and practice cases. The page notes MBB and other top firms may use case or cognitive ability interviews.
- Behavioral practice: Big Interview and vMock, both free to UR students.
- Vault Guides for researching firms.
- Employer experiences: The page lists virtual experiences with PwC, BCG, and Oliver Wyman.
- Funding: Every undergraduate can receive up to $5,300 for an unpaid or underpaid summer internship through the Richmond Guarantee.
Recruiting timeline
Richmond’s guidance is that deadlines vary by firm. For early-career undergraduates, consulting deadlines fall between March and October. Sophomore programs can start as early as September and run through April for some companies. Strategy and management consulting firms may recruit up to a year in advance. Consulting recruiters often turn to summer interns to fill most full-time openings.

Robins School of Business
A consistent top-20 program
The Robins School of Business ranked No. 17 nationally in Poets & Quants for Undergrads’ 2026 Best Undergraduate Business Schools ranking — its fifth consecutive year in the top 20. It also placed No. 15 for career outcomes, No. 21 for admissions standards, and No. 17 for academic experience.
Standout employment outcomes
Robins posted one of the highest two-year employment rates in the country at 99.8%, including a 100% placement rate for the Class of 2025 — meaning every job-seeking graduate found a position within three months of graduation. 95.6% of 2025 grads completed at least one business-specific internship before graduating.
Management Consulting as a named concentration
Robins offers three undergraduate majors — Accounting, Economics, and Business Administration — with concentrations including Finance, Marketing, International Business, Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship, and Management Consulting, giving consulting-focused students a formal academic track within the degree.
Experiential learning is central to the model
The Spider Business Hub is the school’s signature initiative for hands-on learning — immersing students directly in real-world client projects to build professional experience and client-relationship skills well before graduation. Students can also gain applied experience through the Lessing Trading Floor and the Student Managed Investment Fund, translating classroom learning into real financial data and portfolio management work.
Small classes, close support
Robins is known for intimate class sizes and highly engaged faculty, within a liberal arts university setting — a combination Poets & Quants has specifically praised for the individualized attention students receive. The Center for Professional Skills and Development supports students in building career-ready skills and connecting with top employers.
