McKinsey began its presence with its first office in Mumbai in 1992. With four offices in Bengaluru, Chennai, Gurugram and Mumbai, each of the offices is in a key location of the city, enabling reach across the nation. With over 850 consultants across the four locations, the McKinsey offices across India host a combination of remote hot-desk locations for consultants, as well dedicated workspaces for the many back office and other specialist roles. Like other McKinsey offices, the India spaces feature modern conferences and team rooms to foster collaboration and teamwork.

In particular, the Mumbai office is spread over six floors over an office tower. Each floor has its own theme, featuring art by local artists and using local materials. With collaborative and shared workspaces, including a cafe and a roof, the office is encouraging connectivity in the post-COVID era.

McKinsey India Jobs

Known for the strong academic and professional backgrounds of its consultants, McKinsey India offers a wide variety of roles across the traditional consultant roles of Business Analysts, Associates, and Engagement Managers. However, unlike many other offices, the India offices also offer a variety of positions focused on areas such as implementation, digital, analytics, and operations. Internal roles include knowledge analysts, HR, and support functions such as IT and finance. Additionally, McKinsey Global Services (MGS) in Bengaluru and Chennai supports global teams with research, analytics, and shared services. McKinsey India Internships

Internships for both undergraduates and MBA candidates may be offered at McKinsey’s India offices, although appetite for these offers vary due to the economic conditions and roles are particularly competitive. Internships typically last 10-12 weeks during the summer, and interns will work directly on real client projects while receiving coaching from seasoned consultants. Target schools typically include schools like ISB, IIT or IIM. Some students may also choose to apply to McKinsey Knowledge Center or other specialist functions which offer a slightly different interview process than the consultant track.

McKinsey India Salary

For full-time consultants, McKinsey offers regionally adjusted salaries. Business Analysts base salaries may range from $1M-$2M rupees depending on tenure, whereas Associates earn $3M-$5M rupees. While McKinsey India salaries are lower than its counterparts in the United States and the Middle East, they are still among the highest salaries that an employee can earn compared to other industries in India.
