McKinsey & Company is a management consulting firm that provides services in strategy, overall organization, policy, profit and costs, research and development, and management information. McKinsey serves government organizations, foundations, and associations, but their customers are primarily private companies.

McKinsey & Company is a worldwide management consulting firm founded in the United States. With clientele including eighty percent of the world’s largest corporations, as well as an extensive list of governments and nonprofit organizations, they are considered the most prestigious management consultancy. Many alumni of Mckinsey are Fortune 500 C.E.O.s, revealing the deep training and valuable connections the company offers its employees. They were one of the first consulting firms to hire recent college graduates, which adds to its competitive culture – they hold an “up or out policy,”  where employees who do not earn promotions are eventually asked to leave.

McKinsey was founded in 1926 through an effort to apply accounting principles to management. The modern-day McKinsey & Company emerging in 1939, now evaluates management decisions across private and public sectors through quantitative and qualitative analysis. They have more than 27,000 employees as of 2018. McKinsey has a published Quarterly, a Global Institute research organization, published reports on management topics, and many books on management.
