New Jersey Institute of Technology
New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is a public research university located in Newark, New Jersey, in the heart of the New York City metro area. NJIT is best known for its strength in engineering, computing, and applied sciences, and it holds an R1 “very high research activity” Carnegie classification. Its location gives students direct access to the NYC/Northern New Jersey business corridor — one of the largest concentrations of corporate headquarters, financial services firms, and consulting employers in the country.
Martin Tuchman School of Management
The Martin Tuchman School of Management (MTSM) is NJIT’s business school, established in 1988 and renamed in 2016 after alumnus and entrepreneur Martin Tuchman. MTSM is AACSB-accredited — a distinction held by a relatively small share of business schools worldwide.
A distinctly tech-forward approach to business
MTSM’s defining feature is its focus on the intersection of business and technology: the school’s degree programs and research are built around understanding how technology and technological change affect business, and coursework emphasizes finance, data science, analytics, computing, and marketing systems. This positions MTSM students well for the growing wave of technology and analytics-focused consulting work.
Consulting built into the curriculum
At the graduate level, MTSM offers a dedicated Management Consulting course, examining the business of consulting itself — from the economics of the consulting industry to the development of strategic consulting across domestic and international contexts.
Small, hands-on environment
With roughly 1,000 students enrolled across undergraduate and graduate programs (plus close to 200 additional students from engineering, computing, and other disciplines pursuing a business minor), MTSM offers small class sizes and close access to faculty and career advising. Students also gain applied, entrepreneurial experience through co-ops, internships with regional corporations, and NJIT’s VentureLink startup program.
Employer connections
Recruiting employers span both established consulting firms and technology-driven companies — for example, Oliver Wyman, a global management consulting firm with offices in more than 70 cities across 30 countries, has recruited MTSM students for analyst-level roles.

Undergraduate concentrations include Accounting, Finance, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Marketing, and Management Information Systems, alongside a Financial Technology degree track — while graduate offerings include an MBA (Management of Technology), MS in Management, and PhD in Business Data Science.
