It’s no secret – a majority of the growth multinational companies (and consulting firms) are experiencing is directly attributed to their work in emerging markets. Having recognized this, McKinsey is launching a brand new event – McKinsey Global Connect. This event is strictly for Advanced Degree Candidates in North America who hail from – or are passionate about – fast-growing global markets. Much like McKinsey Insight for PhD and Postdoc candidates, and the firm’s Next Generation Women Leaders’ event, this event is a fantastic opportunity to network with current consultants and leaders at McKinsey. Navigate the interview process for this event, build connections once you’re there, have fun cracking a real-world McKinsey case, and you’ll be well on your way to a full-time interview invite for an office in an emerging market (Asia, Latin America, Central Europe, Africa, or the Middle East).
In 2018, Global Connect will be held in Washington, DC from September 21-23. This a one-of-a-kind weekend program will lift the veil on how McKinsey approaches problems facing the private, public, and social sectors in growing economies around the world. As an added kicker, during the event, you’ll work directly with a McKinsey teams to solve one of these real-life problems – what better way to show you have the chops to be a full-time consultant?
To be eligible, you must be studying for an MA, MBA, JD, or PhD degree in North America or working as a professional in North America with at least two years of experience. In addition, you should either be a native of a fast-growing economy or have a passion for (or prior knowledge about) one of these economies.
So what do you need to make the cut for this prestigious event? You’ll need a McKinsey-worthy resume highlighting the impact you’ve achieved, and a cover letter focused on your interest in developing markets (hint: stories make the best cover letters!).
